The Robinowitz Education Center (REC), located in Pennington, NJ, was founded in 1991. Beginning in 2000, the REC expanded under the leadership of Gordon F. Sherman, Ph.D., Executive Director Emeritus and Deardra Rosenberg, Former Director. The REC is designed to meet the educational need for professionals in the field and specialized needs of children who have learning and related learning disorders, such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, and dysgraphia.

The REC acts to increase the public awareness of dyslexia, and related learning disorders, and provides information and support to families, school districts, community organizations and businesses, locally, nationally and internationally.

The REC offers tutoring with the latest evidence-based methods, educational evaluations, and professional development opportunities. REC experts provide exceptional professional development opportunities, including workshops, courses and programs to educators of both public and private schools. All professional development opportunities present the most current evidence-based information and methods to increase student academic achievement, executive functioning and self-esteem.

The Mission of the Robinowitz Education Center is to improve educational outcomes for people with learning differences and to empower them to become accomplished, dynamic members of society.

We will achieve this through evidence-based instruction for our students and expert professional development for educators.

Do you provide your workshops in schools?

Yes, our trainers provide workshops not only at our Robinowitz Education Center, but travel throughout New Jersey and neighboring states to provide both Wilson Language Training® and our full slate of literacy/math workshops. Please call our office for current pricing and travel fees.

What do participants receive when they register for a Wilson® workshop?

Participants of Wilson® workshops receive a workbook to use for the workshop activities. All other teacher and student materials to be used in an actual classroom, need to be purchased separately from WLT (https://store.wilsonlanguage.com/).

How many teachers can attend the workshops (virtual and in-person)?

Workshops are limited to 30 participants.

Do you provide consultation services?

Our professional development staff provide consultation services for school districts and individuals locally and nationally.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO COMPLETE AN EDUCATIONAL EVALUATION?

The full educational evaluation, which includes cognitive and educational testing, takes two or more sessions to complete. The age of the student, among other factors, influences the completion time. Typically, the full educational evaluation will take about 4 hours to administer. Written reports are usually delivered within 4 weeks.

DO YOU DIAGNOSE DYSLEXIA IN YOUR REPORTS?

When an individual meets the criteria for Dyslexia, the term is used in our reports to help provide the individual with appropriate interventions. The state of New Jersey passed legislation in 2015 mandating the inclusion of the term Dyslexia into the Special Education regulations.

WHAT SETS YOUR EVALUATIONS APART FROM THOSE PERFORMED BY A NEUROLOGIST OR MEDICAL-BASED FACILITY?

The Robinowitz Education Center is accredited by the International Dyslexia Association (IDA). All evaluations are conducted in accordance with the guidelines found on the IDA website with the utmost professionalism. Our therapists have extensive clinical training and credentials, which are necessary in the diagnosis and remediation of Dyslexia and related disorders. As evaluators, our experts have a deep knowledge base of this specific learning disability with its constellation of characteristics. This is essential to ensure that individuals who have Dyslexia are not misidentified as having other conditions, and therefore are not remediated appropriately.

IS THE COST OF THE EVALUATION COVERED BY INSURANCE?

The cost of the evaluation may be covered by insurance. Parents are directed to share the report with their child’s pediatrician or neurologist, who will then process the paperwork necessary for reimbursement.
